Our Story & Mission

Serving Williamston with Compassion Since 1953

The Harold Larson Williamston Food Bank is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing emergency food assistance to families and individuals in Williamston, MI. We serve a diverse community—working parents, single caregivers, retirees, and children—because hunger doesn’t discriminate. Whether someone is facing a short-term crisis or long-term food insecurity, our doors are open.

We are a nonprofit helping with groceries near Lansing and in and around Williamston. Each year, we help thousands of people in our area.

From pantry staples to fresh foods, we work hard to meet basic needs with dignity and respect. Our growing network of local volunteers and partners ensures that support is never far away.

Our Roots

Where We Began

Our story began in the 1950s, when Harold and Margaret Larson received support from neighbors during a tough time. When Harold became ill with polio and couldn’t work, the kindness of others left a lasting impact. In 1953, the Larsons turned that gratitude into action by founding the food bank that still carries their name today.

Their legacy lives on. What started with a few families now reaches over 100 households a month—proof that when Williamston shows up for each other, amazing things happen.
